Day 4

Colossians 1:22

“Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in His physical body. As a result, He has brought you into His own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault.”

Think about the word reconcile. To reconcile is to bring into agreement or harmony; make compatible or consistent. God has made each of us compatible with Himself, we have been restored. That could only be accomplished through Jesus’ death on the cross.

When Jesus looked at the cross, He saw you. You, in your brokenness and sin, those things that you say, think, and do that separate you from a holy God. You, in need of redemption, renewal and forgiveness. Jesus knew that for Him the cross meant great suffering, separation from God His father, humiliation and death. Why did He do this? Because of love. God wanted nothing to separate you from Him, so the rescue plan was Jesus. Jesus who was perfect and blameless. He never thought, said or did the wrong thing. Jesus’ death on the cross made us right with God. This was something only Jesus could do. Jesus knew this was always the plan and love was at the center of everything He did. Death could not hold Jesus down and He rose from the dead.

Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, when you repented of your sins and accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you were made right with God. Jesus is the savior of your soul, and He has called you out of a spiritual darkness and into a light. A light that is eternal and shines so brightly. That light is inside of you, and you bring that light with you everywhere you go. You are holy and blameless, no longer bound by sin, shame or guilt. You have been made right with God. God has given you a new life, one that includes forgiveness, freedom, everlasting love, hope and peace for your mind, soul and heart.

Today, reflect on how your life has changed since you invited Jesus to be a part of it.

Spend some time in prayer thinking about the following questions…

  1. Is there someone in my life that I need to reconcile with?
  2. Since being reconciled to God, how do I continue to renew my mind to align with what God says about me?
  3. What sins or shame do I need to let go and repent of because I have been reconciled to God and those things are no longer needed in my life?
