We believe that NewHope Groups is the front door to community at NewHope Church.

Growing in your relationship with Jesus is much more fun when you're surrounded with people who have the same goal. Each semester opportunities for friendship, connection, bible study, building healthy marriages, leadership development, and mens and womens groups are availble to you!

We understand that life can be unpredictable and being a part of a NewHope Group is an important step in your personal discipleship journey. Jesus says in Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”

To foster commitment and unity within our NewHope Groups, all participants will be asked to sign a covenant. This covenant is a shared agreement that each member commits to being an active part of the group for the entire semester. You can preview the covenant here. Healing, Adulting, and Connecting FULL

This groups meets at the church. Healing and adulting are not a single step—rather a lifelong process. In this group we’ll explore themes of mental health, vulnerability, and the important role that local community plays in our individual healing journeys. This space will be safe, and our conversations will go deep. Our study will be Dr Henry Cloud's "A Healing Body" and he'll teach that there are biblical solutions to help work through issues we face and find healing on the other side.
The group begins on Sunday, July 13th.

Staying on Fire FULL

We are a passionate and fun group of NewHopers who love to study and dig into scripture together - sharing insights, wisdom and promptings from the Holy Spirit as we learn. Our goal is to fuel ourselves and each other with the Word so we can stay on fire for our Lord! We will meet at Panera Southpoint Mall. We be studying "Building God's Church" a study on the book of Haggai. God has given us a purpose: to be part of the most magnificent building project imaginable, the church. Allow the Holy Spirit to stir up your devotion to God’s work.

Find Your People FULL

In the Find Your People study, bestselling author Jennie Allen looks at the original community in Genesis, the Trinity, and the creation of people to see what God had planned for us all along. Jennie offers practical solutions for creating true community in a world that's both more connected and more isolating than ever before. You were created to play, engage, adventure, and explore—with others. Because while the ache of loneliness is real, it doesn’t have to be your reality.

How Do I Read My Bible and Journal?

Does the Bible feel too intimidating and complex? Does understanding it feel impossible? In this group we'll understand that the Bible is relevant for us here and now, discover a method to breaking down Scripture in order to better comprehend it and have new confidence in understanding the Bible and a hunger to know it more. Each participant will need to bring a Bible and journal each week. This group meets at the church beginning Monday, July 14th.

NH Fitness Group FULL

This group will focus on weight training, cardio and walking. All skill levels are welcome. If needed please consult your doctor before signing up. All group participants will need to bring a water bottle, yoga mat and hand weights. We will meet at the church inside and walking times will be outside.

Topgolf Social Group FULL

Join us for a fun and social golf experience at Topgolf! This is purely a social group. We'll practice our swing, compete in friendly Topgolf games, and enjoy good company. It's free to play! No experience necessary, all skill levels welcome. Our first group will be Monday July 14th at 3pm.

How it works:
Each week, 5 people will join me at Topgolf.

Now and Not Yet FULL

This group meets at the church. Waiting on the Lord for direction, answers, or strength can be challenging. We can sometimes view waiting as wasted time. But God often uses waiting to make us more like Christ, and to teach us things about his character that we'll only learn while we wait. In Now and Not Yet, Ruth Chou Simons explores some biblical narratives that put God's faithfulness to waiting people on display and helps us shift our gaze from the answers we're seeking to the God who meets us while we wait.
Week 4 will consist of a creative arts time so each participant will need a set of watercolors, a paintbrush and watercolor paper. This group begins on Tuesday, July 15th.

Our Identity in Christ FULL

This group will meet at the church. In this group we'll learn:
What Jesus Christ came here to earth to do, and why.
The obedience of Jesus Christ dying on the cross for our sins paid the debt for our redemption.
Who we are in Christ so that we can live our lives with our identity “in” Him.
Learn how to put on the armor of God to fight and stand against the wiles of our enemy, the devil, while here on earth.

Your Story Has A Villain

There is an Enemy among us. You may know who he is, but you may not know what he is about. Do you know how he wages war? Do you know how he targets you specifically? He’s the villain who wants to render you powerless, discouraged, and defeated. If you’re weary from the struggle and ready to experience life as God intended, then come join us for this 4-week study. It will help you explore the tactics of Satan, equip you to overcome spiritual battles, and remind you of the victory already secured through Jesus.
This class will meet Tuesday evenings at the church from 6:30-8pm for four weeks. The first meeting will be Tuesday July 15.
Participants of this group will need to purchase the book "Your Story Has A Villan", by Jonathan Pokluda, and also the study guide that goes with it. Both are available for purchase on Amazon.

Level Up: Growing in Spiritual Intelligence FULL

Join us Wednesday evenings as we dive into Level Up Your Spiritual Intelligence, a powerful four-session series by Rev. Matthew Watley. Together, we’ll explore how to grow in four key areas—mind, spirit, culture, and emotions—and discover how spiritual intelligence shapes the way we think, live, and follow Jesus. This group is a great space for honest conversation, personal growth, and building community in a relaxed home setting.

Pickleball For Jesus

Pickleball for Jesus is an informal meetup life-group focused on creating connection through the sport of pickleball. We will meet at Piney Woods 400 E. Woodcroft Parkway in Durham and will be playing with life-group participants and members of the greater community. This is a group for all ability levels. Each participant will need to bring a pickleball paddle, balls, and a water bottle. The group begins on Thursday, July 17th.

Who Are You Following? FULL

This group meets at a home in Apex and is for mom's with littles 6 years old and under. You're welcome to bring your children too. Sadie Robertson Huff challenges us to consider who we’re following and how we are influenced. What would it look like if we were led by God’s love instead of by strangers' likes on social media? In the group we'll discover some answers to the tough questions and be reminded of whose glory we’re really living for. Together, we will learn how to face our mistakes with divine perspective and discover where our true fulfillment is found in Jesus. This group begins on Thursday, July 17th.

Young Married FULL

This group is for couples newly married in their 20s and 30s and meets at a home in Wake Forest. We will be following the Art of Marriage‬ curriculum and cannot wait to hear‬ about your lives, marriage, and see what God is going to do during our time together! We hope this group serves as a strong community for any newly‬ married couples out there who just want to connect with couples in a similar‬ season of life. We have 2 cats and kitten! We do have HEPA filters in our house and hardwood floors since we are actually both allergic ourselves! So please consider allergies before signing up!”
Our first group is on Friday, July 18th. We will incorporate a date night on Saturday, July 26th at Tower Escape.

Adventure Bucket List FULL

A Saturday morning life group for mature singles 50+ divorced/widowed/never married that will focus on local adventures offering a great mix of community, fun, and low-pressure connection. We will be using the Adventure Bucket List scratch off cards to explore local towns near the Durham area. We will meet up at the church and scratch off our adventure for that morning. These could be a trip to the museum, a local hike, a farmer's market excursion, etc. Adventures are usually 1-2 hours and then we will wrap up with sitting around a spending a few moments visiting and getting to know each other.
If you are looking to make connections and new friends and enjoy a bit of mystery and adventure, this might be the group for you! Each participant will need to bring a folding or portable chair. This group begins Saturday, July 19th.

Food. Fellowship. Prayer. The Prayer and Fellowship are free; we get individual checks for the food. We meet at 8 am on Saturdays for breakfast at Brigs at the Park restaurant located at 4900 NC-55 in Durham. Join us!

What can I expect when joining a Group?

You can expect a welcoming, open environment and life-giving community with people sharing a common goal to grow in faith and look more like Jesus. Light refreshments are often provided.

Do I need to bring anything to my Group?

We reccomend bringing a Bible, pen and journal to any Group meeting. Additonally, a Group may be journeying through a book or video series and additional Group specific curriculum may be needed. But don't worry, you're Group leader will let you know!

How long do Groups meet?

Groups are semester based with sessions lasting 6-12 weeks.
