November Week 2: God is with me!

Hey NewHope Families and welcome back for another amazing Sunday! It was such a blessing to see your family! Here is a snapshot of what your children learned about at church today…

Today our elementary schoolers learned about Elijah and the poor widow (1 Kings 17:7-16). In the midst of a terrible drought, this widow was willing to share the little food she had with Elijah. God blessed her and made sure that her food never ran out. Your child learned how they always have something to give, even if it seems very small. You may have noticed that your child came home with a decorated pennant flag. We call these “encouragement flags” and your child has been challenged to give this flag away to help make someone’s day better. This flag can be handed to someone directly, placed in the flower bed at a park, or set on someone’s car.

Today your preschooler learned how God led the Israelites through the wilderness as a pillar of fire and a pillar of cloud (Exodus 13:3-4, 21-22). Your child learned how we can always trust God to lead us to what is best. While on the go this week, look up at the clouds during the day and the moon and stars at night. Talk to your child about how God used a tall cloud during the day and a tall fire during the night to show God’s people the way to go.
