October Week 2: My words have power!
Hey families and welcome back to NewHope Kids. This week we dove even deeper into our lessons on Self-control and how God is always with us. Check out what your child learned about…
Today our elementary schoolers studied Proverbs 12:18 which says, “The words of thoughtless people cut like swords. But the tongue of wise people brings healing.” Your child learned how our words have power and we must stop and think about choosing our words wisely. Your child even practiced identifying healing words and hurtful words. This week, we encourage you to help your child exercise their healing words. This may look like your child writing a thank you card to someone in your community or giving their brother or sister a compliment each morning. Throughout the week, remind your child to stop, think, and choose healing words!
Today our preschoolers learned the story of Hagar and Ishmael when they were in the desert (Genesis 21:14-20). Even though they were stuck in the middle of a desert, God was still with them and provided water for them when they didn’t have any. This week, as a family, you can remind someone that God is with them and sees them. Prepare three cards for your preschooler and have them decorate as they please. After they are done decorating, write, “God is with you! God loves you and so do we!” Send these cards off to someone who may need some encouragement this week. Allow your child to help deliver the cards or place them in the mailbox.
