September Week 3: Shine Bright

We are so excited about all that God is doing in our NewHope Kids ministry. Today your children continued in their series learning about the light that Jesus brings to the world and how we can shine that light for others.

Today your elementary schoolers learned the story of the blind man named Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52). This man was calling out for help and Jesus stopped everything He was doing to show Bartimaeus compassion and heal his blindness! Throughout this month, your child has learned how they can shine the light of Jesus by showing compassion to others. What would it look like for your family to STOP and show compassion this week? This may look like stopping along the road to help someone in need. This may look like stopping your own routine to reach out to someone who is lonely. Let’s do what Jesus did and be willing to stop in our day, to notice the people all around us who we can show compassion to!

Today your preschooler learned about the command Jesus gives us to love one another, as Jesus loves us! They learned how Jesus loves everyone! Jesus loved the little children that others didn’t think were important. Jesus loved a man named Zacchaeus who had made wrong choices. Jesus even loved a woman who came from a different town and was different from him. (John 4:1-30, 13:34-35; Luke 18:15-16, 19:1-10). Jesus loves everyone and we can too! This week, make a list with your child of the important things you will do in a day such as eating lunch, playing with friends, or taking a bath. Then, at the top of the list write, “love others”. Remind your child how loving others like Jesus did is the most important thing we can do in our day!
