August W1: God makes me Wonderful and Wise

Hey NewHope families! Thank you for joining us for such an exciting Sunday. We hope your child had a blast! Today your preschooler learned about how God made them! They learned how God not only created all people, but God made them wonderful! (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 139:13-14). This week, we encourage you to sit in front of a mirror with your child and ask them, “What does God think is wonderful?” Invite them to point out different attributes about themselves, such as their hair, eyes, skin color, birthmarks, or smile. Celebrate with them that God chose to make them wonderful and amazing! 

Today your elementary schooler was “diving deep” into God’s word as we learned how God gives us wisdom! They learned how Jesus was wise even when he was a young boy. Although Jesus got separated from his parents, he was found sharing wisdom with other wise men in the temple (Luke 2:41-52). Today your child learned how they can seek after wisdom and grow in wisdom just like Jesus did! This week, we encourage you to point out when you see your child making a wise choice. Celebrate them and help them to see how their words or actions were wise. This may even look like pulling them aside when they don’t make a wise choice and talking about how they could have chosen wisdom in that situation.
