April Week 1: Practicing Patience and Shining Bright
Hey Families and welcome back to NH Kids! We are so excited to jump into our brand new teaching series for the month of April! Today, your preschooler started a brand new series about shining our lights bright for Jesus! They took a look at Matthew 5:14 which says, “You are the light of the world. Don’t hide your light. Shine for everyone to see.” This week, you can remind your child of this amazing truth! When you wake your child up for the day say, “Good morning! It’s time to open your curtains so the light is not hiding. Jesus says to let our light shine too. Don’t hide it. Shine it!” You can even allow your child to do this throughout your house to let the light in and let it shine!
Today, your elementary schooler started a brand new series all about patience. They learned that patience is waiting until later for what you want now. Our elementary classrooms dove into the book of Proverbs to find that it is wise to wait patiently (Proverbs 14:29; 27:14). We encourage your family to find ways to practice patience this week. A great way to teach your child to wait is through a calendar. As a family, pick a date later this week or month and mark it on the calendar where your child can see. It may be something as simple as going to the park or having a friend over. Help your child countdown to the date as they learn to wait for something that they want.
