March Week 3: Putting Others First

Hey NewHope Families and welcome back to another great day in NH Kids. Today your child had the chance to play with friends, Worship Jesus, hear an amazing Bible Story, and be poured into by our awesome NH Kids team. Your preschooler learned about how Jesus washed His disciples’ feet (John 13:3-17). Jesus taught His disciples how to be a good friend and put others first. Because Jesus put others first, so can we! This week, show your child how to put others first in a very practical way. While on the go, make a game of how many places you can let someone in front of you— either in traffic or in line for the bus, in the drive-thru, or in the grocery check-out line.

Today our Elementary schoolers continued their series on Peace by learning how Abigail brought peace to her situation (1 Samuel 25: 1-35). King David was very mad at Abigail’s husband for mistreating him, but Abigail went to David first to apologize and help make peace with the situation. Your child learned how sometimes we need to take the first step in making peace with others. Maybe your child is already in a situation where they need some peace. Encourage them to be the first to say they are sorry or to ask how they can help make the situation better. Remind your child that making peace doesn’t mean that you support how the other person acted, but it’s a way to make a plan so that others won’t get hurt in the future.
