March Week 2: Letting go of What's Fair

Hey NewHope Families! Thank you for joining us this Sunday. We continued our series today on the power of peace and the beauty of friendship with Jesus! Today our preschoolers learned about Jesus’ 12 disciples. Jesus picked twelve men who did different jobs and came from different backgrounds to be his closest friends (Matthew 9:9-12; Luke 5:1-11). This reminds us how we all can be Jesus’ friend, no matter what we look like or where we come from. As you drive in the car this week, talk about the people in your life that are different form your family. Ask your child, “Does Jesus want to be their friend?” and remind your child that Jesus wants to be everyone’s friend!

Today our Elementary schoolers learned about the story of Abram and Lot. Abram let Lot choose between two pieces of land and Lot chose the one that was better (Genesis 13:5-8). Your child learned how they can show care by letting go of what’s fair. So this week when you hear your child say, “That’s not fair” remind them that they can care for others by letting others go first or choose what’s better, even when it’s not fair, just like Abram did!
