May: Week 2
Happy Mother’s Day!! Thank you for celebrating with us at NewHope! Beyond making some fun crafts for the important women in their life, your children continued in a series learning about the helpers around them and how they can help others.
Our elementary classes are learning about the Holy Spirit, who is called our helper. Today they learned the story of when the Holy Spirit first came to the early church at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-41). Your child learned how, as followers of Jesus, even though they cannot see the Holy Spirit, He is always there with them to help them. This week, we encourage you to be on the lookout for the ways that the Holy Spirit displays his presence. This may be through an answered prayer, a feeling of peace, or a helpful hand that came when you didn’t know what to do. Teach your child to be on the lookout for the Holy Spirit and remind them how He is always there!
Our Preschool classes learned about the four friends who helped their friend who couldn’t walk. They carried him to Jesus because they knew that Jesus could help him (Mark 2:1-12). Your child learned how God made them to help others and show them who Jesus is! While on the go, name different people your family can help. Think of people at church, in your community, school, neighborhood, etc. Before you get out of the car, take a moment to pray and thank God for making your child someone who can help others!
