April: Week 1

Hey Families, We hope you had a blast at church today. As we celebrated palm Sunday your children learned about when Jesus rode into Jerusalem and people honored him by laying down their coats and palm branches and shouted “Hosanna” (Matthew 21:1-16). Your preschool child practiced ways that they can celebrate Jesus! What are some ways you can celebrate Jesus at home? Turn this into a fun game this week and find fun ways that you can celebrate Jesus. You can shout “Jesus is amazing” when you wake up in the morning, tell someone else about something Jesus has done for you, or remember to say, “Thank you Jesus” when God blesses you. Invite your child to be creative in their worship and celebration of Jesus this week.

The Elementary classes took this story one step farther and also learned about when Jesus washed the disciples’ feet (John 12:9-16). All month long your child is learning about humility and how Jesus put others first, even when it was hard or uncomfortable. Because Jesus put others first, so can we! This week, show your child how to put others first in a very practical way. While on the go, make a game of how many places you can let someone in front of you— either in traffic or in line for the bus, in the drive-thru, or in the grocery check-out line.
