📰 The Good News – Week 3🎄

Hey families!

We are just FIVE days away from celebrating Christmas – the birth of our Savior, Jesus! We took a journey with the three magi this week as we learned about them following the bright, shining star that eventually led them to Jesus – the KING, the SAVIOR, the one who was going to literally change mankind. Do you ever wonder what the magi were thinking as they were traveling? Would their thoughts consist of “I wonder if we will actually meet the Messiah?” “Will He really rescue us and give us the chance to be best friends with Jesus?” “What happens when we get there?” “I wonder if the family will receive the gifts that we’ve brought with us?” Check out their journey to Jesus in God’s Word: Matthew 2:1-12.

 Gather the family around and talk through these points:

• Can you imagine the anticipation of the magi? Would you be nervous or excited to FINALLY meet the SAVIOR, the KING?
• After dinner, take a peek outside and turn as many lights off as you can– do you see any stars? The magi followed the BRIGHTEST star that took them to Mary, Joseph & Jesus. That was their map!

When you look at this story, we see that God gave us HIS VERY best gift – Jesus. It was PERFECT. In this season as you get ready to celebrate Emmanuel – God with us – talk about how you can give God your best. What does that look like for your family? Serving others? Giving presents to those who don’t have them? Praying for family and friends? Skyping or Facetiming with friends and family you might not be able to see this year? Whatever it is, let’s remember to be thankful that God gave us His very best and in turn, that’s what He deserves from us.
