February: Week 3
Hey NewHope Families, thank you for joining us in NH Kids today! We had a blast as we dove into God’s word! Your preschooler learned all about the thankful woman who came and poured oil on Jesus’ feet (Luke 7:36-50). Although she had done wrong things, Jesus loved her and forgave her. You may have noticed the jar that your child brought home. This jar is meant to fill with things they are thankful for. In class they practiced sharing things they are thankful for, including how much Jesus loves and forgives us. This week, we encourage you to sit down as a family and fill the jar with things you are thankful for. Do you think you fill the entire jar?!?
In our elementary classes, your child learned about how Jesus taught us to love our enemies (Matthew 5:43-47). This doesn't mean that we should allow people to hurt us, but we don’t need to respond with rude words or actions in return. Jesus is the best at showing this kind of love and this is why Jesus went to the cross for us. Jesus died for us when we were his enemy, and through the cross, made a way that we could be his friend. Ask your child if there is anyone in their life who they have a hard time showing love to. Together, come up with ways that they can share the love of Jesus with that person. Read Romans 5:8 with your child. Ask them how Jesus showed us love when we didn’t deserve it. Share with your child your own story of experiencing Jesus’ grace and love!
