A Christmas to Believe In: Week 3

Happy Sunday Families!

It's the third week of Advent! It’s so fun to celebrate this Christmas season with your family! As your child continues to learn about the true story of Christmas, today they focused on the wisemen. Your preschooler learned about how the wisemen brought gifts to Jesus (Matthew 2:1-12)! God also gave us a gift at Christmas, His Son! Jesus is the best gift ever given, because Jesus is the Savior! They spent time diving into their Bible verse John 3:16 which says, “God so loved the world that He gave His Son”. We encourage you to practice this with them at home. Ask them to show you the motions they learned in class, or make up your own. Repeat it until your child can say it without your help!

Your elementary child also learned about the wisemen’s gifts and asked the question, why did the wisemen bring these gifts to Jesus? They brought Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh, because that was the best they could bring. Your child was asked to think about what it looks like for them to give their best to Jesus. It doesn’t have to look like a big expensive present, but maybe a good attitude, or a heart to serve others, or even a willingness to obey Jesus’ rules.

They also learned how God gave His very best to us by sending His Son Jesus. Our elementary students have also been studying John 3:16 which says, “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son. Anyone who believes in Him will not die but will have eternal life.” To study this verse, write it out with your child, or even draw pictures to help you remember. Then, hide these around your house, so your child can find them as they go about their daily routine and be reminded of God’s amazing gift to us!!
