August: Week 1

Hey NH Kids Families!

Have you ever made something or created something that just took your breath away? Maybe it a beautiful painting, the sunset or sunrise you watched as a family. As we dive into this month preschoolers are learning that God created everything with intentionality and purpose AND that He created us with wonder. Take a look at the very first chapter of the very first book of the Bible, Genesis 1. You'll find that God made everything in the world, but THE most special thing that God made were people - you and me! While in the car running errands, getting groceries, setting the table, cleaning the house, take time to talk to your child about what makes them special. Maybe he or she likes to help clean, gives the best hugs or has the silliest faces. Whatever it is, take time to remind your preschooler that God made them exactly how they are supposed to be!

Elementary life groups were telling stories - the good kind - you know the one where God demonstrates His love for us. Epic is the name of the story and your child learned all about the greatest commandment (ask them about it - see if they can remember!): Love God by loving others. You can check out this passage of scripture in Matthew 22:34-40. Talk with your child about it looks like to honor the Father and love others. It can mean leaving a note of encouragement on your neighbors doorstep, helping your brother or sister with a chore - the list is endless.  Ask this question: What do you love? It's a great place to start when figuring out how to love others! We honor Jesus and show HIS love when we love those around us!
